FlyArystan to launch direct Astana–Yining flights on October 28

Kazakhstan’s capital will gain a direct link to Xinjiang, with flights to Yining (Ghulja) operating on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

According to Freedom Travel, FlyArystan is expanding its China network. Astana will become the second city in Kazakhstan with service to Yining after Almaty. The airline has flown there from Almaty since 2025 and increased the frequency to four flights a week in 2026 in response to demand. It has also resumed Astana–Urumqi and Aktau–Urumqi services and launched Almaty–Xi’an and Almaty–Chongqing routes. The carrier’s press office describes China as a strategic market.

What this means for business travel

Travelers from Astana previously had to connect to reach cities near the Xinjiang border, adding hours to the journey and creating the risk of a missed connection. A trip for negotiations or a supplier visit can now be completed with one day of travel. Two flights a week is still limited, so plan the travel window early: departing on Wednesday and returning on Saturday fits within a working week, while changing the date may mean waiting for the next service.

An important note on documents: under the mutual visa-free agreement in effect since November 10, 2023, Kazakhstan citizens may stay in China for up to 30 consecutive days and no more than 90 days within a 180-day period, including for business purposes.
