Asiana Airlines is a South Korean airline founded in 1988. Its hub is Incheon Airport in Seoul, and its international network covers 54 cities in 22 countries. Since December 2024 Asiana has been a subsidiary of Korean Air: it leaves Star Alliance on 16 December 2026, and the merger with Korean Air is scheduled for 17 December. From Kazakhstan, Asiana Airlines operates seasonal nonstop flights between Almaty and Seoul: in 2026 from 29 March to 24 October.

  • Baggage allowance

    On international flights other than US routes, economy includes 1 checked bag up to 23 kg and business 2 bags of 32 kg each; the three dimensions may total up to 158 cm. Economy cabin baggage is 1 bag up to 10 kg and 115 cm plus a personal item.

  • Flight check-in

    Online check-in on the website and app opens 48 hours and closes 1 hour before an international flight. At the airport, bags must be checked in at least 60 minutes before departure, and boarding ends 10 minutes before departure.

  • Changes and refunds

    Change and refund terms depend on the fare and are set out in the ticket rules. Award tickets booked with miles carry refund, change and no-show fees. A paid seat on an international flight is refunded without a fee if you cancel it at least 48 hours before departure.

  • Meals on board

    In economy, Asiana serves Korean, Japanese and Western dishes, with the menu depending on the route. Wines selected by sommeliers are offered with meals. Business class has its own separate menu.

  • Asiana Club programme

    Asiana Club is the Asiana loyalty programme. Miles are earned on flights of the airline and its partners, and the tiers are Silver, Gold, Diamond, Diamond Plus and Platinum. From 17 December 2026 miles can be converted to Korean Air SKYPASS, with flight miles at 1:1.

  • Mobile app

    The Asiana app is available for iOS and Android. As on the website, you can check in online in the app: for international flights it opens 48 hours before departure. Not every airport accepts mobile boarding passes; the list of those that do is on the airline's website.

  • From Kazakhstan, Asiana Airlines flies from Almaty to Seoul (Incheon). The flights are seasonal: in 2026 they operate from 29 March to 24 October. From Seoul the airline flies to cities such as Tokyo, Manila, New York and Los Angeles. The schedule changes by season, and current flights show up in the Freedom Travel search.

Codeshare flights operated by other airlines cannot be checked in online. At the airport, bags must be checked in at least 60 minutes before departure.

  • It depends on the fare, and the change and refund terms are set out in the ticket rules. For award tickets booked with miles, Asiana charges refund, change and no-show fees, but an unused international award ticket can be refunded free of charge at least 91 days before departure.   • Yes. In economy, Asiana serves Korean, Japanese and Western dishes, with the menu depending on the route, and wines selected by sommeliers are offered with meals. Business class has its own menu. If you need a special meal for medical or religious reasons, check the options with Asiana well before departure.

  • Asiana has been a subsidiary of Korean Air since December 2024. Shareholders approved the merger on 12 August 2026, and it is scheduled for 17 December 2026. The day before, on 16 December, Asiana leaves Star Alliance; Korean Air is a member of SkyTeam. Asiana Club miles can be converted to SKYPASS: flight miles 1:1, card and partner miles 1:0.82.
