Cathay Pacific is a Hong Kong airline founded in 1946 and part of the Cathay Group, which also includes the low-cost carrier HK Express. It is based at Hong Kong International Airport (HKG), is a founding member of the oneworld alliance and flies to more than 80 destinations in 32 countries.   • Baggage allowance

    Economy passengers may carry one cabin bag up to 7 kg and 56×36×23 cm plus a small personal item, and Business passengers up to 10 kg. Checked baggage in Economy: Light includes one 23 kg bag, Essential and Flex two bags of 23 kg each. Exact allowances are in the fare rules.

  • Flight check-in

    Online check-in on the Cathay Pacific website and app opens 48 hours before departure, and you can get a mobile boarding pass. When a connection is booked on a single ticket, passengers and bags are checked through to the final destination.

  • Changes and refunds

    In Economy, Light and Essential tickets can be changed for a fee plus any fare difference, while Flex changes are free apart from the fare difference. Cancellation carries a fee on all three fares. Fees depend on the country and are shown at purchase.

  • Meals on board

    Economy menus feature Hong Kong flavours and international favourites. Special meals, such as religious, vegetarian, child or medical-dietary options, can be requested in Manage Booking or via Customer Care at least 24 hours before departure.

  • Cathay membership programme

    Joining the Cathay membership programme is free. Members earn Asia Miles and Status Points on Cathay Pacific and oneworld flights, and miles can be spent on oneworld flights and upgrades. The tiers are Green, Silver, Gold and Diamond.

  • Mobile app

    The Cathay Pacific app for iOS and Android lets you book flights, manage your booking, check in online, get a mobile boarding pass and receive real-time flight notifications. A separate Asia Miles by Cathay app is available for miles.

  • Cathay Pacific's flights from Kazakhstan start on 9 January 2027, with nonstop Almaty–Hong Kong services on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. From Hong Kong the airline flies to Bangkok, Tokyo, Seoul and London, among other cities. The schedule changes by season, and current flights show up in the Freedom Travel search.

  • Online check-in on the Cathay Pacific website and app opens 48 hours before departure, after which you can get a mobile boarding pass. If connecting flights are booked on one ticket, you and your bags are checked through to the final destination, so there is no need to re-check baggage in Hong Kong. Check the airline's website for airport check-in closing times before you travel.

  • It depends on the fare. In Economy, Light and Essential tickets can be changed for a fee plus any fare difference, while Flex tickets can be changed free of charge, paying only the difference.   • Yes. Economy menus include Hong Kong dishes, international favourites and regional cuisine, along with freshly brewed coffee. Special meals, such as religious, vegetarian, child or medical-dietary options, should be ordered at least 24 hours before departure. In First and Business you can preselect your meal from 10 days up to 24 hours before departure. The airline cannot provide peanut-free or tree nut-free meals.

  • Citizens of Kazakhstan do not need a visa for Hong Kong if their stay is no longer than 14 days. No visa is required either for a transfer without leaving the airport transit area. At Hong Kong International Airport, Cathay Pacific operates from Terminal 1, where its lounges are located. Check the entry rules on the Hong Kong Immigration Department website before you travel.
