Barcelona primarily attracts tourists with excellent beach holidays. Barceloneta is a district in the very heart of the city, where the most popular beach is located. A little to the north of it you can find real beach cubes with storage lockers and changing rooms.
In addition, one can confidently speak of Barcelona as a true architectural wonder of Spain, which, no less than the clean sea, attracts tourists year-round. This city is a real open-air museum: here masterpieces of medieval Gothic combine with experimental Art Nouveau buildings and high-tech style structures. The main attractions of the city can be found in the districts of:
- Eixample;
- Montjuïc;
- the Old Town.
The heart of Barcelona is Plaça de Catalunya, from which the main pedestrian street runs toward the sea. The boulevard is the border between the Raval and Gothic quarters. Here you will find the Maritime Museum, the National Palace of Marcet, the Barcelona exhibition center and the monument to Columbus.
The Gothic Quarter is the oldest and perhaps the best attraction of the Old Town. Most of the buildings here were built back in the 14th-15th centuries, and here you can even find authentic structures of the ancient Romans. The most beautiful cathedral of Barcelona, and indeed of all Spain, is the Cathedral (Cathedral of the Holy Cross), which was built over the course of two centuries, up until the 15th century.
In the Old Town tourists will easily find theaters and museums, the main of which is considered to be the Picasso Museum. While in Barcelona, it is simply impossible not to visit it.
